There’s more than meets the eye for the Mentalist when Patrick Jane is temporarily blinded by an explosion in “Bloodshot,” airing March 17. “so much of mentalism is about seeing and watching and observing,” says coexecutive producer Gary Glasberg, who wrote the episode. Simon Baker’s Jane must use his other acute senses to solve the case of murdered financial adviser, so he’s excused if he can’t keep his hands to himself. “There are characters that he might normally be intimidated by that he actually touches and feels in a comedic sense,” Glasberg says. “They react with surprise—and amazement—at how intuitive he is. Simon had so much fun with it” When Jane turns out to be the real target of the killer, he searches his own past, with flashbacks. Says Glasbert, “There’s a little bit of insight into what he was”
